‘Arise fair sun, and kill the envious moon!’, This July, the Chelsea Funnery gallavants once more onto the outdoor stage with a rousing production of the classic tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy is brought to life as never before by this fantastic ensemble, ages 13-18. Amidst raucous dance, stage combat, and original song, these young actors grapple with the intersections of love and ancient rivalries, passion and duty, and the simple raw tragedy of doomed romance in a production that will have you exclaiming to your friends and neighbors, “Get thee to a Funnery! Go!” This heartfelt ensemble brings the text to life with such energy that the story can be enjoyed by the Shakespearean novice and seasoned veteran alike.
