WE REALLY LOVE THIS JOB.
We are joined in our directing efforts each year by a wonderful roster of guest artists and alumni
The Chelsea Funnery staff is an ever-evolving group of theater lovers and Bard enthusiasts from a wide variety of performance, directing, film, puppetry, dance, clown and music backgrounds. We are Vermonters, rural art makers, and alumni of this very program! Our staff is committed to continuing the vibrant community and outstanding performances that has marked Funnery programs from the beginning. We are deep believers in FUN and come to our teaching and directing with collaboration and compassion at the foremost of our work with students.
Orion is a Chicago actor, teacher and performer originally from Cabot Vermont. He attended Chelsea Funnery’s sister camp in Craftsbury as a teen and has been teaching and directing at Chelsea Funnery since 2011. A resident of Chicago for over a decade now, he has worked in theatre, film, and television. He is an ensemble member with Idle Muse Theatre co. in Chicago and was a founding member of Vermont Suitcase company. Orion has also worked as a circus artist and clown, and as an educator of circus arts in Chicago. “He delights in masques and revels sometimes all together!”
Sadie works in a library by trade but finds herself caught up in the world of plays and music every summer! She has been a director and composer of silly toons at the Funnery since 2017. She looks forward to contributing to such a whimsical, dramatic, and overall fantastic community every year!
Louisa is a Boston based actor. She has acquired her bachelor's in theater and with said degree is ready to teach gut-wrenching, knee-slapping, swoon-worthy Shakespeare. She is always ready to break out into song and will always turn Shakespearean verse into music for every Funnery production!
Lukina is a writer, freelance artist, and aspiring jack-of-all-trades. Currently based in New York City, she likes to spend her free time studying history, learning different crafts, gardening, and running away to her beloved Vermont whenever she can. One fateful summer, at the age of 13, she wandered into her first day at the Funnery and discovered her destiny as a lifelong Shakespeare enthusiast. She was delighted to return as a full-fledged director in 2024, and is just over the moon to be learning the behind-the-scenes ropes at Funnery HQ to keep this ship running!
